Metropolitan Police Officer Wayne Couzens has admitted to the kidnapping and rape of Sarah Everard at the Old Bailey.
Sarah, 33, disappeared on her way home from a friend’s house in Clapham, south London, in March.
Couzens, 48, appeared at the Old Bailey this morning, where he pleaded guilty to kidnapping Ms Everard “unlawfully and by force or fraud” on March 3, and rape between March 2 and March 10 .
He also accepted responsibility for Ms Everard’s murder, but no plea was entered, pending medical reports before another hearing on July 9.
Appearing by video link from Belmarsh prison, Couzens wore khaki pants and a gray sweatshirt.
Members of Ms. Everard’s family were in court to hear the defendant plead.
Ms Everard’s disappearance sparked a major investigation, with her body found in a Kent forest a week later.
Last week, police revealed Ms Everard’s cause of death was “compression of the neck.”
