Christian Eriksen stabilized after receiving CPR during Denmark vs Finland Yorkshire News

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen received CPR on the field after collapsing during his country’s Euro 2020 match against Finland in Copenhagen.

Inter Milan player Eriksen fell to the ground at Parken Stadium shortly before half-time, leaving players from both teams in clear anguish.

English referee Anthony Taylor called the doctors to the field and Eriksen underwent prolonged treatment.

Teammates formed a shield around the former Tottenham player, while fans inside the stadium were clearly stunned by the incident, with some in the photo crying.

An image from Getty Images appeared to show Eriksen conscious after he was carried off the court on a stretcher.

A UEFA tweet said the match had been suspended due to a medical emergency.

BBC coverage of the incident reached the studio several minutes before programming ended.

Presenter Alex Scott said: “I can’t believe what we are witnessing. Football goes out the window. You are thinking of his family and the rest of the players. I picked up the phone and texted my mom to tell her that I love her. It’s a reminder of how quickly things can change.

Fabrice Muamba, the former Bolton midfielder who collapsed after suffering cardiac arrest during a televised FA Cup match in 2012, has responded to the news of Eriksen’s collapse.

“Please God,” Muamba tweeted.

Former Eriksen team Tottenham Hotspur tweeted: “All our thoughts are with Christian Eriksen and his family.”

West Ham United star Jesse Lingard tweeted: “Thoughts and prayers are with Christian Eriksen and his family praying that all is well.”

Former Chelsea player Didier Drogba posted: “Fight for your life #eriksen, we pray for you”.
