BBC accused of trying to ‘damage’ on GB News launch day – ‘we will fight it’ | United Kingdom | New UK News

The British public service broadcaster was trying to “ambush” and “hinder” the launch of the right-wing TV channel on Sunday, a spokesperson for GB News said. A GB News spokesperson said: “This is a BBC ambush designed to interfere with the launch of GB News. It is an attempt to protect their dominance of news broadcasting in the UK .

“We will fight it.

“And our launch continues.”

This has already happened when the Press Association said in 2010 that it was unable to access footage of “single camera missions” classified as belonging to the UK Broadcast Pool.

The UK broadcast pool includes the BBC, Sky News and ITN.

“The number of cameras allowed at events is at the discretion of the event organizers.”

GB News presenter Andrew Neil said the station’s viewers would benefit from the additional competition the channel can bring.

He said: “We are in a competitive environment, they know that.

“I suspect our rival TV channels will improve their game.

“That’s good, the only winner is the spectator.”

The new GB News channel is scheduled to launch at 8 p.m. tonight.

GB News plans to broadcast “original information, opinions and debates”.

The BBC declined to comment when contacted by Express.co.uk.
