Why “six armed police vans” were called to the Frome incident Bath City News

Police released a statement after reports of a large armed police presence in Frome.

A witness said he saw six armed police vehicles in the early afternoon (June 14), near the Mount and the Marston Trading Estate.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: ‘At 1:09 pm today we received information from a member of the public which made us fear the welfare of a woman in Frome .

“Due to the nature of this information, firearms officers were part of the units present at the scene.

“It has since been established that this was a false alarm with good intentions and no breaches were committed.

“We are now liaising with our partner agencies to ensure that all necessary backup support is provided. “
