MARINA residents have been promised no further football matches will be shown on its big screen after concerns over Sunday’s game against England.
The giant screen hosted hundreds of fans this weekend to watch the team’s opener against Croatia.
It was the first game to hit the big screen.
In a statement to residents of Brighton Marina, Premier Marinas said: “We would like to inform that we raised our concerns earlier to Brighton Marina Estates regarding the lack of controls in place for football screenings on Saturday (sic) .
“Premier Marinas does not control this part of the marina complex.
“We have been advised that no further football matches will be broadcast.”
Doors were installed at the entrance to the game on Sunday to control the number of people entering the event.
Brighton Marina had previously announced that the site “was operating at 50% of its capacity”.
Cans and bottles were thrown into the crowd during the match. Some fans stayed to clean up the trash and glass.
The marina was to show all games, not just England games.
After Sunday’s match Brighton Marina said “due to unforeseen circumstances” no more matches were scheduled for that day.
A spokesperson announced this morning that all games have been canceled for today as well.
Asked on Twitter this afternoon about watching football on screen, Brighton Marina replied: “The big screen is currently open to all ages, but our football listings are currently being carried over.
“We will provide a full update on our social media and website tomorrow. ”
Brighton Marina has been contacted for further comment.
