Cancel culture SURVEY: Will you boycott companies that stop advertising on GB News? | United Kingdom | New UK News

Express.co.uk readers can vote in our poll to see if they will boycott brands that have removed their ads from GB News. And let us know what you think in the comments section.

Our poll comes as several brands have pulled their ads from the upstart channel – which promises to support the cancellation culture – after its launch on Sunday.

Ikea, Kopparberg and Octopus Energy are among the companies that have pulled advertising from veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil’s channel.

Swedish furniture giant Ikea said it “did not knowingly” advertise on GB News.

He added: “We are investigating how this may have happened to make sure it does not happen again in the future, and have suspended paid display advertising in the meantime.”

In its statement, the Kopparberg cider company also said it was unaware its ads were running on the network and added that they had been suspended “pending further examination of its content.” .

Octopus Energy said it would only advertise to GB News if it turned out to be “really balanced”.

The Open University has also suspended its advertising.

Mr Neil, widely regarded as television’s toughest interviewer, hit back at Ikea for his decision to stop his ads on the channel.

Mr Morgan said: “Oh shut up, you pathetic moron signaling moron. I’m boycotting IKEA now.”

Meanwhile, GB News presenter Alex Phillips has taken on Kopparberg.

She tweeted: “I’ve never liked Kopparberg. It’s not cider. It’s overly sweet, additive-laden nonsense that any West Country gossip finds deeply insulting to the very concept of cider. You don’t lose a customer here. I’m just saying. “

Commentator Dominique Samuels lashed out at people urging companies to remove ads from GB News.

She said on Twitter: “People with really sad lives are now trying to remove the ad from GB News because some of the presenters aren’t regurgitating the Metropolitan Liberal talking points.”

Ms Samuels added sarcastically: “But the culture of cancellation does not exist.”

GB News has many high profile signings including former Sky Sports presenter Kirsty Gallacher, former BBC presenter Simon McCoy and former ITV presenter Alastair Stewart.

In his opening monologue, former BBC political interviewer Mr Neil said the channel “would pierce the pomp of our elites in politics, business, media and academia and expose the growing promotion of cancellation culture for the threat to freedom of expression and democracy it “.
