Manchester Arena attack investigation to issue first report later today | UK News

A survivor of the Manchester Arena bombing said better security at the sites had to be one of the enduring legacies of the atrocity.

The 2017 terrorist attack investigation will release its first report later on the security operation at the Ariana Grande concert.

Security guards working at the Arena at night told the inquest that people warned them about the man with the heavy backpack at the site – but issues with their radios meant they weren’t could not report problems to their control room.

The suicide bomber was able to hide in black spots of CCTV at the site, and the City Room – the home where the bomb exploded – was not monitored by police, according to orders given to them.

Adam Lawler, 19, of Bury, was seriously injured in the blast and his friend Olivia Campbell was one of 22 people killed.

He told Sky News: “A lot of people just bottled it… you can be paralyzed with fear, but you know when it’s your security or policing profession – your answer should be to hold your bottle. and enter it.

“I am understanding but I resent and I am angry like a lot of people.”

Figen Murray, the mother of Martyn Hett who was also killed, campaigned for better safety in places to write in the law and said she hoped it could become one of the legacies of the atrocity of ‘Four years ago.
