Covid News: UK’s longest patient dies after saying he ‘couldn’t live like this anymore’ | United Kingdom | New UK News

Jason Kelk was admitted to St James’s Hospital in Leeds, West Yorkshire on March 31 of last year.

The 49-year-old remained there until today, when he decided to withdraw all treatment.

This morning, Mr. Kelk was transported to a nearby hospice, where he spent his last hours surrounded by his family.

His heartbroken wife Sue Kelk, 63, said Jason’s battle had become too much to bear.

Sue described Jason as a “soul mate” and added, “It was so peaceful. It was really important for him to do it on his terms.

“But he leaves a lot of people completely destitute.

“People might not think he was brave, but my God, he was brave.

“I really think he did.

“And I just think that’s the bravest thing you can do – actually say ‘I don’t want to live like this anymore’.”
