England advanced to the knockout stages of Euro 2020 thanks to Monday night’s results in Groups B and C.
Gareth Southgate’s side are now guaranteed to finish as – at worst – one of the top four teams in third place.
The Three Lions are in second place ahead of the decisive Group D game against the Czech Republic, which also has four points but has a higher goal difference.
England need to win at Wembley to qualify and a positive result is required to finish in the top two, but any stress related to qualifying has been removed by the results elsewhere.
The four best third-placed teams of the six groups of the reorganized Euro qualify for the knockout stages.
Monday’s results saw Ukraine and Finland finish third in their respective groups with three points apiece, meaning if England slipped to that spot they would still pass.
Switzerland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and France are also in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, England Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount isolate themselves after coming into contact with Scotland’s Billy Gilmour during Friday’s Euro 2020 game between the two countries.
Gilmour also isolates after Tested positive for COVID-19. His Scottish teammates are not isolated, however.
Southgate said there was “some doubt” that Chilwell and Mount – Gilmour’s Chelsea teammates – would be available to play against the Czech Republic.
