When is the next full moon and how to see the strawberry full moon in UK? Bath City News

Last month’s full moon was a treat for UK astronomers, as the Super Flower Blood Moon coincided with the only total lunar eclipse in 2021.

The lunar occasion of May also marked the largest Super Moon of the year, with the Moon appearing about 30% brighter and 14% larger than a regular Full Moon.

This month’s full moon will mark the third and final super moon of 2021, so it will be worth looking for.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Strawberry Full Moon, including how to see it from the UK.

When is the full moon in June?

The June Strawberry Full Moon will officially take place tomorrow evening (Thursday, June 24) at 7:39 p.m., when the Sun and Moon will be fully aligned.

But don’t worry, because the Moon will still appear full all night long to casual astronomers. The sun will set around 9:47 p.m. in the UK, so it will be easier to see the lunar spectacle after this point.

This month’s full moon is named after the start of the traditional strawberry picking season and marks the start of a warmer summer.

What does Full Moon mean?

The Full Moon is the lunar phase that occurs when the Moon appears as a complete circle in the sky.

During a Full Moon, the Sun and the Moon are aligned on either side of the Earth, the face of the Moon being illuminated by the Sun.

The phases of the Moon take 29.5 days to complete, which means the full 12 cycles only take 354 days, 11/12 days shorter than the 365/366 days of the calendar year.

As a result, about every two and a half years, a 13th full moon appears and is known as the blue moon.

Are there full moon rituals?

In astronomy, the appearance of a Full Moon marks the perfect time to release all negativity and prepare for a new chapter, as the new lunar phase begins with a New Moon.

It is said that performing a full moon ceremony harvests the powerful cosmic energy of the full moon. Here’s how to perform your own simple full moon ritual:

1. Turn off all electrical devices and breathe in silence, holding each breath for five seconds.

2. Light a candle.

3. Identify and write down the things, people, habits or situations that disturb or weigh you down.

4. Visualize your goals and imagine how happy you would be if you achieved them.

5. Finally, express your intention to forgive – for yourself or for someone else – out loud under the full moon. Start with the words “I forgive” and release any negativity you carry into the universe.

When is the next full moon?

If you miss the Full Moon tomorrow, the next date to put in your calendar is Saturday July 24, which will see the Full Moon light up the sky.

Here is the full moon calendar for the rest of the year:
