Sydenham murder investigation underway after 19-year-old stabbed to death | UK News

Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in south-east London.

Emergency services were called to Miall Walk in Sydenham, near Crystal Palace, at 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The 19-year-old died at the scene despite first aid, metropolitan police said. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were also present.

Police say the teenager’s family have been notified of his death, but official identification and an autopsy will take place in the coming days.

Chief Detective Inspector Chris Wood said: “The officers we met worked through the night to begin what will be a rigorous investigation into the death of this young man.

“Police lines remain at the scene as a thorough forensic examination is underway.

“The victim’s mother went to the scene and met police.

“She and the rest of the family will have continued support, and my heart goes out to her as she faces the first day of the rest of her life without her son.

“I can assure him and all Londoners of my full commitment to find the person (s) responsible for this murder and bring them to justice.

“Support from the local community and anyone who might know anything about this tragic incident will also be crucial. If you have any information, please contact us.”

Murder detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation. No arrests have yet been made.
