Newick Cricket Club mainstay David Strachan passed away last week after more than 20 years of service at the club.
In a moving tribute on Twitter, the Newick-born TV star said Strachan was a “great man in village cricket.”
The celebrity, who has 7.9 million subscribers on the social media platform, said: “RIP David, a great cricketer from the village. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the club for so many years. years.
“You will be sorely missed.”

Lewes Cricket Club has over 200 members, including the former host of Good Morning Britain.

Past and present members of the Newick Cricket Club, founded in 1884, took part in a minute of applause and reflection on the life and service of the Pillar before two matches on Saturday.
The club also took to social media to pay tribute to the longtime member.

In both games at King George V Playing Fields, Newick CC 1st XI lost to Little Common Ramblers, while the 2nd XI clubs lost to Dormansland CC.
As Covid-19 halted Morgan’s annual cricket match in Newick, the event drew figures like Shane Warne, Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Flintoff and Brian Lara in previous years.
