UPDATE: Almost 30 cases in Bedford – but almost 90 people test positive in Central Bedfordshire Bedford News

To date (June 28), Bedford has registered 27 new cases of the coronavirus, with a total of 15,393 people now diagnosed with the virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England

However, Central Bedfordshire recorded 86 new cases of Covid in 24 hours with a total of 17,234, while Luton has 62, with a new total of 22,010.

There were no deaths in Bedford (482), Central Bedfordshire (572) or Luton (504).

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 33,441 Covid cases, Hertfordshire 80,940 and Milton Keynes 21,155 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5 p.m. the day before and 5 p.m. and unfortunately do not include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In Bedford, to date, 117,725 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccine, and 82,268 have received their second dose. In the UK, 77,038,257 people have been vaccinated.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 22,868 and now stands at 4,755,078. There have been three deaths, bringing the total to 128,103.
