When will Gap in Brighton close for good? New Listing Brighton News

CLOTHING retailer Gap has announced it will close all of its stores in the UK and Ireland in yet another blow to Main Street.

In a move that will see the closure of 81 stores, including its Brighton outlet, the company said it plans to move its online business on a “gradual basis.”

The closures will take place from the end of August to the end of September.

The announcement comes after a strategic review aimed at “finding new, more cost-effective ways to maintain a presence and serve customers in Europe.”

In a statement, Gap said, “In the UK and Europe, we will maintain our Gap online business.

“The e-commerce business continues to grow and we want to meet our customers where they shop.

“We are becoming a first digital company and we are looking for a partner to help us grow our business online. ”

The news comes after several street victims, including Topshop and Debenhams, who struggled with coronavirus restrictions and competition from online clothing brands.
