Stabbing at Oxford Circus: 60-year-old man dies after being stabbed in Regent Street in London | UK News

A murder investigation has been opened following the death of a 60-year-old man who was stabbed in a “random and unprovoked” attack in central London.

The victim, who has not yet been named, was found injured following the incident at Oxford Circus, near Regent Street, around 8 p.m. Thursday.

He later died in hospital.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon and has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He is still being held in a central London police station.

Police said officers hoped to track down members of the public who “intervened to detain the suspect” to get their accounts of the attack.

In particular, they seek to speak to “two young men with skateboards” who led the intervention.

Chief Detective Inspector Vicky Tunstall, Specialist Crime Command, said: “This is treated as a random and unprovoked assault and we are not actively looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

“I would like to reassure the public that this is not supposed to be related to terrorism.”

People with cell phone footage of the attack or those who witnessed the assault are urged to contact the police and owners of cars passing by with dashcams are encouraged to check if they recorded it. .
