Stabbing at Oxford Circus: Man charged with murder after 60-year-old man fatally injured | UK News

A man has appeared in court for murder after a 60-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Oxford Circus, London on Thursday evening.

Homeless Tedi Fanta Hagos, 25, is charged with the murder of Stephen Dempsey outside a Microsoft store in Oxford Circus.

He is also charged with possession of a knife.

Appearing in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, Fanta – who previously lived in Swansea – wore a gray tracksuit and was assisted by an interpreter during the hearing.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Police were called shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday to report that a man was allegedly stabbed in Oxford Circus, near the junction with Regent Street.

Officers as well as the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance attended where the victim was found with stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

The victim has not yet been named.

The Met said his next of kin had been briefed and were being supported by specially trained officers.

An autopsy will take place in due course.

People with cell phone footage of the attack or those who witnessed the assault are urged to contact the police and owners of cars passing by with dashcams are encouraged to check if they recorded it. .
