Euro 2020 “morning after” police warning after arrest of drunk drivers of M5 Bath City News

Police have warned fans who celebrated England’s Euro 2020 victory on Saturday evening (July 3) to drive the next morning.

South West fans celebrated England’s 4-0 victory over Ukraine until Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Drinks flowed through Bristol as fans celebrated in the streets and fans continued into the night to toast the Three Lions success.

However, police intervened to warn motorists of the dangers of driving the day after a drenched celebration, with some fans who may have traveled elsewhere to watch the game or who were involved in the celebrations due to hit the roads this morning (4 July ).

Dorset Police issued the warning this morning on Twitter, urging motorists to think carefully about driving safety after their Saturday night celebrations.

The tweet read, “It’s coming home. Are you?

“If you have any doubts about your ability to drive in the morning after drinking alcohol, don’t. You don’t need to be over the limit to be under the influence. Don’t be the one who never comes home or the cause of tragedy for someone else’s family. “

The warning comes after two motorists were pulled over and charged with drunk driving on the M5 in Somerset ahead of Saturday’s game.

The Avon and Somerset Road Police Unit looked after the couple on a “busy Saturday”.

The Twitter post regarding the arrests said there had been a “huge increase” in drunk driving in the area and called on members of the public to report any suspected incidents they see.

The post said: “Busy Saturday… two other liquor drivers arrested from M5 during the day, both charged.

“There seems to have been a huge increase recently, why?

“Always call suspects [drink driving] via 999/101, and we’ll do our best to catch up with them! “
