Hailsham man seriously injured after overturning Land Rover car Brighton News

A MAN was seriously injured when his car hit a parked vehicle and then a telephone pole.

The man, from Hailsham, overturned his Land Rover on its side at Horam near Heathfield last night.

Three fire trucks as well as police and ambulance teams arrived at the scene to help.

The 23-year-old driver was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment.

Firefighters were called to Maynards Green Road at midnight to free the driver of the vehicle.

A spokeswoman for the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘There was a car that collided with a telegraph pole.

“We helped pull someone out of the car.

“Police and ambulance services were also alerted at the scene.”

There were also two passengers in the car. Fortunately, they escaped the accident unscathed.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: ‘Two vehicles were involved in a Land Rover hitting a telegraph pole.

“One person suffered serious injuries, but they were not life threatening.

“He was rescued from the vehicle and taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment.

“Two male Land Rover passengers escaped unharmed.”
