Euro 2020: Pubs in England to stay open longer in case final ends with extra time and penalties, says Downing Street | UK News

Pubs in England will be allowed to stay open longer on Sunday in case the Euro 2020 final results in extra time and penalties, Downing Street said.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesperson said: “We are moving forward with plans to allow pubs to open until 11:15 pm on Sunday.

“The whole nation was seized by euros and that will ensure that people can come together to enjoy the pub finals if they want to. “

Meanwhile, Kensington Palace has announced that the Duke of Cambridge will attend England’s highly anticipated semi-final against Denmark Wednesday night.

Prince william, who is president of the Football Association, will join 60,000 football fans in cheering on the Three Lions at Wembley Stadium as they try to reach their first major tournament final since 1966.

The winner will face Spain or Italy in the final, also at Wembley, Sunday at 8 p.m.

William will attend the match without the Duchess of Cambridge, who had previously joined him with Prince George to watch England beat Germany in the round of 16 as they are self-isolating after coming into contact with someone with coronavirus.

He wrote on Twitter that he “can’t wait” for the England-Denmark game.

He also praised England’s 4-0 quarter-final triumph over Ukraine in Rome on Saturday, writing: “Another top team performance and a clean sheet from @England tonight. #ThreeLions.
