Two teenagers killed within hours of separate stabbing in London | UK News

Two teenagers died after being stabbed hours apart in London on Monday evening, Metropolitan Police said.

15-year-old dies after being stabbed Greenwich around 5 p.m. and a 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after being stabbed in Lambeth just before midnight.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he was “heartbroken and appalled” by the deaths.

Police were called to Woolwich New Road in Greenwich at 5:23 pm after violence broke out in a busy area near Woolwich Arsenal station.

They found a 15 year old boy stabbed. Photos on social media showed members of the public waving sheets to ensure privacy as emergency teams tried to save the boy’s life, but he died at the scene about half an hour later.

Another 15-year-old, who later went to hospital with a knife wound, has been arrested on suspicion of the other boy’s murder.

In Lambeth, a 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene after he was found injured in an estate in Oval Place at around 11:45 p.m. There were no arrests.

A tarp covered a stairwell at Elworth House, a block of flats just off the main road in Clapham.

Members of the public placed flowers and personal messages at the scene in tribute to the boy.

The cards read “shine brightly” and “love you forever … my brother”.

A 25-year-old resident of Elworth House said: “I watched this little boy grow up.

“He was a good boy… he had his own mindset, you know.” Bless him.

So far in the capital this year, at least 20 teenagers have been killed, raising fears the tally for the whole year will surpass the previous record of 27 in 2017.

This would mean the highest number of teenage deaths since 2012.
