Gina Rigby with her elephant raffle prize and female captain Avril Horricks

Ladies Captain Avril and 27 others headed to the Burghley Park Golf Club for the annual Ladies’ Day. The weather was good, the course very pleasant and everyone then enjoyed a good meal. The raffle – a delicious elephant – was won by Gina Rigby and raised over £ 100 for the charity chosen by Avril – CHUMS. In her enthusiasm for doing well during the day, one lady thought she should practice putting – she threw a few balls at what she assumed was the practice green. She was then rather surprised to see two men approaching – yes you guessed it – she was on the 18th green !! The winners of the day were Avril herself with Margaret Oakley and Rachel Rushton with 78 points, the finalists were Gina Rigby, Jo Doyle and Angie Tatum-Hume with 76 points.
