Almost New Buying Guide: Tesla Model X Car News

Tell someone that you are interested in an electric car and, most likely, Tesla will instantly pop up in their head. It is a trendy badge that represents automotive, performance and environmentally friendly high technology.

One of the brand’s most common offerings is the Model X, a sleek and tech-savvy large SUV with gullwing rear doors and a host of “Easter eggs” hidden among the many reasons it keeps spinning cars. heads four years after its launch.

The Model X is available in various forms, from the basic 60kWh 60D to the top of the range 100kWh P100D and its hypercar-type 0-60mph time of 2.9 seconds. The base version has a claimed 220-mile range, while the 605-hp P100D, also known as “Performance Ludicrous,” is officially good for 336 miles. Other variants are worth mentioning, including the 75kWh 75D, 90kWh 90D and 100kWh 100D, all of which offer excellent performance.

The X models start at around £ 50,000 on the used market. If you’re looking for newer examples, from 2018 or 2019, there are some (usually 100D or higher versions) that will set you back over £ 80,000, with near-new cars going over £ 100,000.

The more recent examples are more likely to be the Long Range model, which replaced many of the previously mentioned variants. As the title suggests, it’s capable of going a decent distance on a single charge – claimed 360 miles, to be exact. However, it’s still fast, with a 0-60mph time of just 3.8 seconds.

The Model X’s batteries are stored under its floor, which gives the heavy vehicle a relatively low center of gravity. This, along with standard all-wheel drive, makes handling easier. Sure, it’s not an extremely fun car to drive – other than its laughing acceleration – but it does feel secure, stable and composed.

The interior is modern and luxurious. There is a good driving position with a comfortable and supportive seat. The dashboard is dominated by a digital instrument display and a huge 17-inch touchscreen that controls almost all of the car’s important functions. Everything is very futuristic but can be difficult to use. And alas, while the quality of the materials looks good, there are areas where the interior feels a little less solid and spaces where sharper closing lines can be expected.

In terms of space, there is a lot. You can go for seven new seats, and most buyers do, although the two folding chairs in the back are more suitable for children. There is plenty of room in the middle row seats and is accessed through the spectacular gullwing doors which also leave ample space for entry and exit.
