Fully vaccinated adults will no longer have to self-quarantine when they return from Amber List countries from July 19, Grant Shapps confirmed.

Making a statement on international travel in the Commons, the transport secretary said those who received two jabs will no longer have to self-isolate for 10 days after returning to the UK – but will still need to take a PCR test on their second day back.

“I can confirm today that from July 19, UK residents who are fully vaccinated via the UK vaccine rollout will no longer have to self-isolate when they return to England,” said Mr. Shapps.

“They will still have to take a test three days before their return, the pre-departure test, showing they are negative before traveling, and a PCR test no later than the second day, but they will no longer be required to take a test. of the eighth day.

“Essentially, this means that for fully vaccinated travelers, the requirements for Green List and Amber List countries are the same. “

But Mr Shapps warned that Amber List countries could still turn red – and said no changes would be made for people arriving from those places.

Arrivals from Red List countries must be quarantined in a government approved hotel.

The transport secretary also clarified that fully vaccinated means “14 days have passed since your last dose of vaccine” – and the rules may differ from country to country within the UK, as health issues are vested.
