New premium brand Genesis launched the G70 Shooting Brake at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It is the first model developed specifically for the European market.
Hyundai’s premium brand will launch in the UK this summer, initially selling the G80 sedan and the GV80 SUV. These will soon be followed by the smaller GV70 SUV and the recently revealed G70 in sedan and station wagon form.
Genesis Europe boss Dominique Boesch said the company’s first European-specific variant, which it previewed last week, “is a clear statement of our commitment to the region” .
The G70 Shooting Brake is largely inspired by the design of its sister sedan. Genesis says the decision to develop a streamlined station wagon for European customers was made because it is “a bodywork firmly rooted in European automotive history and favored by customers in the top luxury sector.” range. Its interior is presented with chrome accents, a central infotainment screen and a multifunction steering wheel.
The car has been spy tested before and shares its styling with the sedan, with the one-piece glass hatch extended to meet the ‘floating’ spoiler at the rear of the station wagon, in an effort to give it a more “athletic” profile.
With a length of 4685 mm and a height of 1400 mm with a wheelbase of 2835 mm, the Shooting brake G70 is the same size as the G70 sedan.
Genesis says it offers more capacity than the sedan, which has a 330-liter trunk. He maximized luggage space by moving the trunk hinges forward.
Genesis has yet to provide details on the powertrains that will be offered on the G70 Shooting Brake. In other markets, the sedan version is offered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged petrol V6, in combination with rear two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.
