Police Officer’s Ex-Wife Claims Force Refused To Do Anything When He Rape Her | UK News

The ex-wife of a police officer has described in chilling detail how her strength protected him from prosecution after suffering years of physical and sexual abuse at her part.

She said the scandal of police inaction over the first allegations against PC killer Wayne Couzens brought back the nightmare of his own futile fight for justice more than 10 years ago.

On Friday, Couzens admitted to having killed Sarah everard, 33, as she returned home to south London in March this year in a case that shocked the country and sparked large-scale protests against women’s safety.

The parliamentary and diplomatic protection officer, who previously admitted to kidnapping and raping Ms Everard, was not questioned further about three separate complaints of indecent exposure dating back to 2015 and February this year.

Separately, Freya – not her real name – said she married her police boyfriend in part because she believed he would protect her, but the reality was very different.

She claimed he hit her repeatedly in fits of anger and when she first complained to the police, after threatening her with a knife, she was amazed at the reaction .

Freya told Sky News: “Two officers came to the house and did little more than tell him to take a long walk to calm himself down.

“I was traumatized, but I don’t remember at all that they spoke to me.”

She then informed her boss of the continued abuse, but was urged not to leave her husband, and a subsequent visit by two officers from the force’s domestic violence unit resulted in no action.
