Prince William has sent his greetings to the England squad as they count down to their historic Euro 2020 final against Italy at Wembley on Sunday.

The Queen wrote: “I want to extend my congratulations to you and my family on reaching the final of the European Championships, and send you my best wishes for tomorrow with the hope that history will not only record your success but also the spirit, the commitment and the pride with which you have conducted yourself. “
Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote a similar letter to the team last night, telling them they had “lifted the spirits of the whole country” in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.
“Tomorrow we know you can lift this trophy too,” he wrote.
Mr Johnson told Southgate and the team they had “already made history”.
“For most people in this country, this is the first time this has happened in their lives,” the prime minister wrote.
“You have forged a bunch of brothers whose energy, tenacity, and teamwork – and sheer flair – seem to shine through in everything you do.”
Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer said the players were “as fearless as the three lions on our crest” and thanked them for being “role models, not just for a generation of young people, but for a whole nation”.
