Floods in London: Streets and cars submerged in parts of the capital after ‘hour-long flood’ | UK News

Parts of London have been affected by flash flooding and a weather warning has been issued for much of southern England.

Social media users posted videos of flooded city streets with South West London badly affected.

Twitter user @robwatkins said the center of Raynes Park was “very underwater” after “a deluge of over an hour”.

@CaptTamagochi, from the same area, warned anyone driving to “beware”, while @lunanana___ posted a video of similar levels of flooding in South Hampstead, adding that they had “never seen anything like it” .

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for much of southern England.

The affected area stretches from Devon in the west, all along the south coast to East Anglia and as far north as Cambridgeshire and almost to Bristol.

The agency has also set up flood warnings for four areas, including Beverley Brook in the south London neighborhood of Merton, Sutton, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth.

Alerts, indicating that flooding is possible, have also been issued for the tributaries of Lower Lee, the Hamble River and the Upper Loddon River.

The Met Office has not issued any flood warnings or severe flood warnings.
