Live: Power outage leaves hundreds of homes without power – updates Bath City News

More than 250 homes in Somerset have been deprived of electricity following a massive blackout.

Weston Power Distribution (WPD) confirmed tonight that 254 properties are currently without power in areas BS40 and BS48 during two different outages.

The main cut was first reported just before 7 p.m. this evening (July 15).

A total of 273 properties were initially left without power, with the BS49 area covering Congresbury, Yatton and Cleeve also affected, but this area has since been reestablished.

However, the area covering the northern Mendip Hills including Langford, Chew Magna, East and West Harptree and Blagdon (all BS40) remains without power, as does the area of Backwell, Flaz Bourton, Nailsea and Wraxall.

The fault is classified as a “high voltage” fault, which means that it is likely to cover a larger area and affect more properties.

A low voltage cutout is also in progress affecting other properties of the BS48 area, but these are more localized and relate to only 20 properties.

For more details on the exact zip codes affected by the outages, see the WPD update here.

WPD currently estimates that the outage could continue until 10:30 p.m. tonight.
