Bedford Leisure Facilities will open with increased capacity from Monday July 19.

Fusion Lifestyle and Bedford Borough Council have announced that according to the government’s roadmap, courses, sessions and capacity at leisure facilities will increase from Monday on a phased approach.

But despite these capacity changes, some things will remain the same – strict security procedures at all centers will remain in place to keep customers safe.

Capacity increases will include the gymnasium, group exercise programs and spaces in swimming pools and school swimming programs.

The changes will allow more people to exercise safely in the centers in the Borough of Bedford.

The centers will continue to operate according to the latest government guidelines and those planning to visit will be encouraged to book and pay online, thus minimizing the contact required at the center.

Staff and clients will continue to be encouraged to wear masks when moving through centers and to stay away where possible.

Security screens in gymnasiums and reception will remain, along with hand sanitizer stations and equipment sanitizer.

These measures, combined with meticulous cleaning routines, are designed to ensure guest safety and provide complete confidence in using facilities and classrooms.

Anthony Cawley, Director of Operations at Fusion, said: “We are delighted that our facilities are opening up to more members of the local community.

“We know that our centers play a very important role in keeping residents fit and healthy and this latest news means we can help even more people reach their goals.

“We know people are always concerned about their safety, and we will make these capacity changes slowly and monitor the situation closely. “

A Bedford Borough Council spokesperson added: “It is great news that our local leisure facilities can take one more step towards normalcy.

“We look forward to helping our communities become active in more and more ways throughout the year.”
