Royal Free seeks new name for Graseby House at Barnet Hospital UK News

A Hospital Trust wants to find anyone with extensive knowledge of Barnet Hospital to help them rename one of its buildings.

Graseby House on Fitzjohn Avenue in Chipping Barnet has been converted into a new home and workplace for some staff at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust.

Formerly a student residence, Graseby House has been transformed into housing for 63 clinical staff and offices for 100 administrative staff.

The renovated building, which reopened in October last year, is still known as Graseby House, but hospital bosses want to tie the building more closely to Barnet Hospital, which sits just upstairs. of the road.

Royal Free Charity Managing Director Jon Spiers said: “Graseby House is a fantastic building with much needed starting accommodation for nurses and offices for support staff.

“We would love the readers’ help in creating a more direct link between Graseby House and the Barnet Hospital, which staff and patients are served, so we are able to reflect that in a new name for the building.

“We had a few suggestions from NHS staff, but we would also love to hear from anyone in the community with knowledge of the history of Barnet Hospital who could help us come up with a name that does.

“Having said that, we are not trying to remove his story and if anyone can tell us more about the origin of the Graseby name, we would be intrigued to hear it.”

Anyone with any suggestions for a new name or who knows why Graseby House is known by that name today should email Philippa Hutchinson, Special Projects Manager at Royal Free Charity.
