The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s ‘grief’ over the Duke of Edinburgh’s death will be documented in a new chapter in a book about the couple.

Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s book documents Harry and Meghan’s romance, and a brief period as members of the monarchy, before they parted ways to forge a new life for themselves and their son Archie in America.

HarperCollins said the paperback epilogue will share: “Behind the scenes of Harry and Meghan’s groundbreaking interview with Oprah, details of the couple’s move to California, the various philanthropic and business initiatives in which the Sussexes have been involved since their move and what’s coming up with Archewell Productions.

It will also feature: “The continuing challenges the couple face with regards to privacy and the British press (and) the grief the couple felt over Prince Philip’s death.”

The updated book, which goes on sale on August 31 – the date Diana, Princess of Wales was killed in a car crash in 1997 – is said to have been written with input from those closest to the couple.

The reasons for Meghan and Harry’s decision to leave the royal family and move to California last year were first revealed, seven months after the book’s publication, in the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The couple have left the royal family in crisis with a series of shocking revelations that have portrayed the monarchy as a racist and indifferent institution.

Meghan and Harry have opened up about their brief lives as an active royal couple, alleging that a family member – not the Queen or Philip – made a racist comment about their son, and how the Duchess was having suicidal thoughts but his approaches to the monarchy for help were refused.

Winfrey was speechless when the Duchess – the first half-breed member of the modern British monarchy – said another royal was concerned about the color of their son Archie’s skin.

Harry is to write his own revealing memoir and has promised to give an “accurate and entirely true” account of his life.

Family life during the breakdown of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage, the period of Diana’s death and its aftermath, Harry’s relationship with Camilla and his former girlfriends will likely be part of the book that will be eagerly awaited by the readers.
