Brighton West Street Pub Liquor License Review Molly Malone Brighton News

SUSSEX police have requested a review of Molly Malone’s alcohol license after a “serious” incident at the West Street pub.

On Tuesday July 6, a Sussex Police Superintendent, whose name has not been released, asked Brighton and Hove City Council to review the pub’s license.

The force was “of the opinion that the locals are associated with serious crimes and serious disturbances.”

The letter was written during the Euro 2020 football final when police faced alcohol-related disorders in central Brighton.

A report explaining why Sussex Police want the business license revised has been drawn up.

The pub is owned by Indigo Leisure and can currently serve alcohol from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. Monday to Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Three advisers are expected to review the license on Tuesday (August 3) in a virtual meeting starting at 10 a.m.

The hearing is expected to be webcast on the Commission’s website.
