Sheffield United: Blades hope Slav key to transfer breakthrough UK News

United, who Jokanovic says are set to break into the transfer market after nearly two months of inactivity, are monitoring Elliott’s situation at Anfield ahead of the new Premier League season.

Although they have yet to make an official approach, the Championship club have said they would be interested in bringing the winger to South Yorkshire if he is allowed to leave Jurgen Klopp’s side in ready.

If Klopp decides to let Elliott go, a number of top teams and the EFL are expected to make representations to the German after seeing him impress for the Blackburn Rovers last season.

But after giving Elliott his professional debut when they worked together at Fulham, United believe Jokanovic’s presence could persuade Klopp to send the teenager to Bramall Lane where he would reconnect with the manager who launched his career.

Elliott was just 15 when the Serbian selected him for an EFL Cup draw at Millwall, with Liverpool later paying an undisclosed sum to take him to the North West. He scored seven goals in 41 league appearances for the Rovers in the previous campaign, as Tony Mowbray’s side finished 15th in the standings.

Despite inheriting a team that had just been relegated from the top flight when he officially took office on July 1, Jokanovic has ruled out major changes during the summer window.

However, the opportunity to train Elliott again would prove to be impossible for him to resist.

Klopp, however, is by no means certain of outsourcing the England youth international again; especially after seeing him impress during the preseason.

A decision on his future is expected to be made next week, with United asking to be kept informed of any developments.

Another Liverpool player – center-half Ben Davies – has also been linked with a move to United as Jokanovic looks to strengthen his defensive options while Manchester United’s James Garner is reportedly another option. The 20-year-old, considered one of the top youngsters in Old Trafford’s payroll, has previously spent time on loan with Watford and Nottingham Forest.

Forest is also monitoring Garner’s situation in the Northwest as they attempt to bring him back for another spell at the City Ground. However, United are reportedly ready to try to recruit Garner on a permanent basis. Given his reputation at Manchester United, Garner is unlikely to be sold unless a ‘first refusal’ clause is written into any deal.

United made a similar deal with Liverpool when they acquired striker Rhian Brewster for a club record fee last summer and may be ready to do the same, capitalizing on their close ties to Ole Gunnar’s side. Solskjaer after Dean Henderson’s two-year stay in the South. Yorkshire.

United return to competition when Birmingham City make the trip north on Saturday.
