Stolen BMW crashes into A27 near Alciston after police chase Brighton News

A PURSUIT involving a stolen BMW ended in “tactical contact” of a police car with the vehicle, resulting in an accident.

On Tuesday August 3, police received a report that a BMW had been stolen from an address in Ditchling Road, Brighton.

Police said a marker was placed on the vehicle, which was later spotted by officers patrolling the A27 near Alciston on Saturday morning (August 7).

The driver did not stop and a chase ensued.

According to a police spokesperson, “tactical contact” was established to complete the pursuit.

The car’s sole occupant – a 47-year-old man from Brighton – was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, dangerous driving, driving without a license, possession of a knife in public and burglary with intent to steal.

He was released on bail until August 22, pending further investigations.
