Walton: He made a big save in the first half to catch Johnston’s effort. Will must have been relieved that it was going straight for him. He had to keep his concentration while Bolton pushed late and made a save-death brace to thwart Sheehan. 6

Moon: He faced an experienced operator in Delfouneso and kept him relatively quiet and glued to his weapons. Reserved. 6

Helik: He did a major save challenge in the first half and looked in control of the situation and exactly what it is. A defensive leader and Barnsley tipped him. 8

Halme: I had to be on the alert at night, with Bolton posting some hot spots on the right. 6

Miller: Well prepared at his hometown club in his first start with the Reds, in an unknown right-wing role. Much effort and a great center for an early opportunity for Adeboyejo. Some other deliveries were mixed, but there are also plenty to get excited about. 7

Benson: He clearly has a keen eye for a pass. Not all went well, but it did produce some nice and cultivated things at times. He has something on him. Reserved. 7

Styles: Some nice touches, but he couldn’t grab the game by the nape. 6

J Williams: His excellent early cross should have been dispatched by Oduor. Brand of energy and well defended. 7

Adeboyejo – Planted a great early opportunity directly at Dixon and lacked composure with another opportunity in the first half. He could use a goal. 5

Woodrow: He produced a smart move and was quite involved in linking the game. He helped defense and the captain’s armband seems to sit well with him, although he wasn’t heavily involved in what can hurt teams. 6

Oduor: He played an advanced role on the front line and should have put Barnsley ahead early on and seized a decent second-aisle opportunity. It will be better for the exit at least. 6

Substitutes: Thompson (Adeboyejo 56). A little crude, but clearly a true sprinter. Got a reserve from a Bolton player. 6

Cole (Woodrow 60). He made his ‘second’ debut with the Reds from the bench. He had an opportunity that went straight to Dixon and missed the key penalty on the penalty shoot-out. 6

Kane (60 styles). Another one that would be better for the start and had to be alert as Bolton was late. Reserved. 6

Not used: Collins, Sibbick, Frieser, Sraha.
