Woman arrested after carrying suspected gun in Brighton Brighton News

A WOMAN was arrested this afternoon (August 13) after carrying a plastic toy gun in Brighton.

Police were called to the Marks and Spencer store on Western Road following reports of a woman seen with a suspected gun.

The 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of a firearm offense and taken into police custody for questioning.

The black toy gun was also seized.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Sussex Police were called to report a woman seen with a suspected gun at the Marks and Spencer store in Western Road, Brighton shortly before 2:20 p.m. today ( August 13).

“Officers reacted quickly and arrested a 53-year-old woman on suspicion of a gun-related offense and she was taken into custody for questioning.

“A black plastic toy gun was seized.”

The arrest comes the day after a gunman killed five people in a shootout in Plymouth, Britain’s worst mass shooting in more than a decade.
