Abba set to announce hologram tour and new music Brighton News

Pop group Abba is set to make a major announcement, as fans await the release of their first new music in 39 years.

The Swedish group has launched a new website called Abba Voyage, asking fans to show interest in a new project.

It is expected to be a hologram tour that the group originally announced in 2016.

The group is also expected to release five new songs to accompany the show.

Abba rose to fame after performing Waterloo at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, held at Brighton Dome.

The quartet reportedly spent the evening partying in the Napoleon Suite on the first floor of the Grand Brighton Hotel.

In June 2017, a blue plaque was placed outside Brighton Dome to commemorate the victory.

Entering the UK in 1974 was Olivia Newton-John, who was seen as a serious contender with her song Long Live Love. She finished in fourth place.

Abba’s Bjorn Ulvaeus, 76, and Benny Andersson, 74, were seen arriving in London on Thursday before making the announcement.

The group – which also includes Agnetha Faltskog, 71, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, 75 – are expected to announce new music.

The announcement is due at 5:45 p.m. UK time.

Although details are unknown, the group is expected to announce the release of their first new songs since the 1980s and the launch of a new theatrical show in which they will perform in hologram “Abbatars”.

Last week the group posted on Twitter: “Thanks for waiting, the journey is about to begin.”

Abba is said to have teamed up with Pop Idol creator Simon Fuller to bring the series to life.

Plans for the return have been in place since 2019, but have been delayed due to Covid-19.
