900 Dyson jobs arrive in the South West Bath City News

900 jobs could be available soon in Wiltshire and Bristol. The specialist in vacuum cleaners, hair dryers and hand dryers Dyson has revealed its intention to expand its workforce.

It is looking to recruit 900 additional staff at its “key sites” – the Malmesbury and Hullavington Airfield campuses in Wiltshire, as well as Bristol city centre. The jobs in the area are part of Dyson’s biggest ever recruitment drive, with a £600m injection into technology and labs planned for the coming year.

Bristol Live reports that the call for new engineers and digital specialists comes after Dyson had a very strong 2021. The company made a profit of £1.5 billion in 2021. Its annual turnover grew by 5% last year, reaching £6 billion worldwide.

James Dyson, Founder and Chief Engineer, said, “We like to look at problems the wrong way and pioneer our own solutions. As a result, we succeed and grow. But to continue this exciting journey, we need the best and brightest engineers and digital experts to join us.”

The company says it currently employs 3,250 engineers and scientists worldwide, half of whom are based in the UK. Dyson’s Bristol base is currently located in College Green and can accommodate up to 300 people.

Dyson claims to have sold more than 70 million cordless machines worldwide and 20 million hair care products. Their products were manufactured in Wiltshire until 2002 when the company moved production of vacuum cleaners to Malaysia.
