Who is leaving Emmerdale this year? All the planned releases for the ITV soap opera in 2022 UK News

Emmerdale bosses have promised huge storylines for the ITV soap opera in 2022.

Evil serial killer Meena Jutla’s day in court, Vinny and Liv’s secret wedding, arguments between the Dingles, and a massive feud over Al and Cain are just a few of the storylines gripping viewers this year.

But big, dramatic storylines often lead to the exit of much-loved characters.

And as the soap opera prepares for a huge and exciting 50th anniversary celebration, we’re taking a look at who’s leaving the Dales for good – and who could see their final scenes airing this year, too.

Exit

Meena Jutla will bid a final farewell to the ITV soap opera later this year, reports the Mirror.

It was thought she may have died after being pushed across the bridge by Dr Liam Cavanagh to the same spot where Meena had murdered her daughter Leanna Cavanagh months before.

But she survived and after a brief stay in hospital she was soon questioned by police about the long list of murders that have plagued the village in recent months.

Earlier this year, actress Paige Sandhu confirmed she would step down from her role as the evil serial killer.

“I think Meena is hilarious, she’s got so much charisma, she’s so weird and weird. She’s so fun to play. Going to those dark places is really fulfilling, but there’s also this little comedic side to it,” had- she stated at the time.

“I love her flamboyant nature. I’m going to miss everything about her,” she explained when confirming her exit.

But how will Meena get out – and will the villagers finally get justice?

maybe leave

David Metcalfe and Victoria Sugden have been in and out of the soap several times over the past few months.

The actors – Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins – were allegedly involved in a ‘racing argument’ on set and they briefly stopped filming while the complaint was investigated.

However, they have since returned to the series.

Victoria was nearly killed by the evil Meena, as she tried to drown her after the bridge collapsed last year.

Meena targeted Victoria after her ex-lover David broke up with her and left with Victoria.

In scenes that aired a few weeks ago, the couple said they were leaving again – before making a surprise comeback in scenes later that week. But after what they went through with Meena, will they definitely leave the show?

Manpreet Sharma – played by Rebecca Sarker – could soon be heading for a dramatic exit from the soap opera too, as she struggles to come to terms with her sister’s crimes.

Meena has murdered many people since her short time in the village and even though she gets what she deserves, fans worry about Manpreet as she struggles to come to terms with what her sister has done.

Dr. Manpreet visits his sister in prison this week, but there’s a huge twist – as Meena decides to blame Andrea Tate’s murder on her own brother.

How much more can Manpreet take and will she struggle to cope with as Meena plots her revenge?

Left

We may only be a few months away in 2022, but some of Emmerdale’s characters have already made their way out of the ITV soap opera, including Ellis Chapman, performed by Aaron Anthony.

He is believed to have left the show following the run-in line involving Matthew and Isabel, after a ‘heated argument’ on set – but whatever reason he decided to leave, he has now made his exit in as Ellis.

In scenes aired earlier this year, just days before his brother Billy Fletcher married Dawn Taylor, Ellis announced he’d gotten a big job in Australia and made up his mind to leave the Dales for sunnier climes.

He said an emotional goodbye to Priya, but was never seen saying a fond farewell to his own father Al Chapman and then-girlfriend Belle Dingle.

Tracy Metcalfe also said her potential temporary farewell to the Yorkshire village. Played by actress Amy Walsh – who was on maternity leave – Tracy left the show in scenes that aired in January.

Admitting at the time that she was excited for motherhood and the baby’s arrival, she said: “I feel weirdly excited about it.

“I’m sure anyone who’s experienced it reading this will laugh, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to experience.”

She also documented the struggle to keep the baby bump a secret on the show, adding, “Trying to hide the bump was getting so ridiculous!

“I had cushions in front of me and there were a lot of coats and scarves. Besides, my fingers are so swollen! I don’t feel like myself anymore and I’m so bloated.”

Debbie Dingle actress Charley Webb also confirmed her exit from the series earlier this year.

She hasn’t been seen properly in the Dales for some time, but in February she announced she would not be returning to fans on social media.

“I left to get Ace two years ago,” she explained to fans, “I went back there late last year for ten weeks to finish a script so I guess officially It’s been a year. I never felt the need to announce it so we didn’t.”

However, she has…
