Sheffield Wednesday: Barry Bannan and Darren Moore nominated for player and manager of the month UK News

Midfield maestro Bannan found the back of the net three times last month and provided two assists for his teammates.

He also used two goals in last week’s 5-2 win over Burton Albion, taking his tally for the season so far to seven – his highest tally ever in a single campaign.

Moore’s move to play him higher up the pitch has paid off, with the Scotland international at the center of the Owls’ resurgence since the turn of the year.

Bannan has been nearly ubiquitous in the league this season, playing in 34 of 35 games.

On only one occasion during that period has he failed to complete the full 90 minutes, when he limped off injured in the second half of the 1-1 draw with Ipswich in September.

The 32-year-old was named alongside strikers Amadou Bakayoko and Alfie May of Bolton and Cheltenham respectively, as well as Rotherham goalkeeper Josh Vickers.

Gillingham’s Neil Harris, MK Dons’ Liam Manning and Rotherham chief Paul Warne are also up for the manager’s award alongside Moore.

The winners will be announced Friday morning.
