‘Frustrated’ Sheffield Wednesday hopes to bounce back against Cambridge United UK News

Midtable Cambridge United are the visitors to Hillsborough this afternoon and arrive in good spirits as the club celebrated the purchase of their Abbey Stadium earlier this week.

They are looking to move back into the Ligue 1 playoff places on Wednesday after being dropped to eighth place, with results elsewhere having gone against them in midweek.

“We were very frustrated and disappointed in the locker room last week, it was a rest day for us, which can happen in football,” Owls defender Jordan Storey said.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore.

“This game is over now and we are still confident of what we are capable of. There are a lot of games to come, most of them at home, so we have to capitalize and make the advantage count.

“We are capable of getting back into the top six and staying there. With the quality we have, I want us to pick up the points we need.

“But it’s a funny old league, we’ve seen how unpredictable it can be across the division, so our focus is always on the next game.”

Cambridge arrives in average form but full of beans amid manager Mark Bonner’s assertion that it’s “the kind of game you want to be promoted for”.

“I think Mark Bonner did a great job there,” Owls boss Darren Moore said.

“They came last season and showed clear stability and understanding. This is a team that can mix everything. This is a team that can get the ball down and pass it. They are a team that can move the ball forward and cause you problems.

“They have wonderful attacking players.

“We have to be absolutely perfect defensively and offensively we have to be at our best. Cambridge have shown they are a team more than capable of delivering results when you least expect them. They went on the road and at home produced fantastic results against good opposition in the division.
