Star Hobson’s mother has her prison sentence increased in Court of Appeal after baby’s death | United Kingdom | News UK News

Three senior judges today increased his prison term to 12 years.

Star died after being taken to hospital in September 2020, after suffering ‘totally catastrophic’ and ‘unsurvivable’ injuries at the hands of Brockhill in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

Brockhill herself was jailed for life in December.

The 28-year-old security guard was mocked at Bradford Crown Court when the sentence was handed down.

The judge said Brockhill had “shown no remorse” for Star’s murder, which she denied.

It was decided that Smith’s sentence would be considered, as Attorney General Suella Braverman described the case as “tragic and extremely upsetting”.

She said she could not recommend any increase in Brockhill’s sentence, Yorkshire Live reports.

Speaking at the time, Ms Braverman said: “This case will have shocked anyone who has read it, but my job is to decide whether a sentence seems too weak based solely on the facts of the case.

“I have carefully considered the details of this case and have concluded that I can refer Frankie Smith’s sentence to the Court of Appeal as I believe it is unduly lenient.

“However, I have concluded that I cannot refer to Savannah Brockhill’s sentence.”
