We ask Somerset Live readers if they would be happy to host refugees under the new government scheme Bath City News

After being criticized for its response to the refugee crisis caused by Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the government has launched a new scheme in the UK called Homes for Ukraine.

The government scheme removes the limit on the number of Ukrainian refugees who can live with host families and will offer £350 a month to those who host for at least six months as a ‘thank you’.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid announced on BBC Breakfast that there would be ‘no cap’ on the number of people who could be supported through the Homes for Ukraine refugee scheme, so it is hoped that thousands displaced persons will be able to benefit from it.
