Volkswagen ID Vizzion confirmed for Beijing Motor Show in April Car News

The production version of the Volkswagen ID Vizzion concept, first revealed in 2018, will be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show in April, VW brand boss Ralf Brandstatter has confirmed. The first deliveries of the model will take place in 2023, and will give priority to China.

Brandstatter confirmed the model’s arrival, along with a sketch of it (below) at the brand’s annual press conference where he confirmed that profits had increased by 451% against a decrease in sales volume of 8%.

The racy car will essentially serve as an electric equivalent to the combustion-engined Passat, giving Volkswagen a much-needed rival for electric executive market leaders like the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2.

The newcomer will first be available in sedan form, as seen recently in these winter test photos, before an estate version, based on the ID Space Vizzion concept, arrives. Although the exterior dimensions largely match those of the combustion-engined Passat, the interior should offer space comparable to that of the flagship Phaeton, which bowed out in 2016.

A name has yet to be confirmed. It was originally thought to be called the ID 6, but that moniker has now been taken over by Volkswagen’s China-only large electric SUV. It is developed under the code name Aero-B.
