Novice pilots: Teams must now give a rookie (ie a driver who has not started more than two Grands Prix) a first practice outing at least twice during the season.

Wheels and tires: The diameter has been increased from 13 inches to 18 inches and the tire covers can now only heat the tires to 70 degrees C (previously it was 100 in the front and 80 in the rear).

In a world of huge alloys, it always seemed odd that F1 would persist with 13-inch wheels. That changes in 2022 as it features fashionable 18-inch wheels with lower profile tire sidewalls.
