Summer could arrive early this year – with forecasters predicting a heat wave could hit the UK next month. Temperatures are expected to peak at around 18C this weekend, with the UK experiencing its hottest few days of the year so far.
And the good weather is expected to continue into next week with sunny skies forecast. April weather typically sees a daily high of around 12°C and a low of 4°C, but this year the high could reach 28 degrees, according to some forecasters.
Weather expert Jim Dale said the UK can expect warm weather to arrive “fairly early” this year, with temperatures peaking in mid-April, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Met Office weather experts predict that 2022 will be among the hottest years on record – although it will be cooler than some fairly recent years. This is due to the impact of La Niña in the tropical Pacific, where sea surface temperatures are below average.
Met Office scientist Dr Nick Dunstone said: “Global temperature has been slightly suppressed in 2021 due to the cooling influence of La Niña in the tropical Pacific. With another La Niña underway, making it a so-called “double dip” La Niña, it’s no surprise that we expect another relatively cool year for global temperatures compared to the streak of years since 2015. .
“However, 2022 is still likely to be above 1.0°C and therefore continues the streak of hottest years for global temperature since 1850.” While this is good news for fans of warmer climates, the Met Office is currently forecasting the April weather to be mild or ‘very mild’ with periods of colder conditions also possible.
As always, the sunniest weather is more likely to surface in the south and east of the country.
