Why the Pennzoil 400 was more exciting than ever Car News

Alex Bowman credited his crew chief Greg Ives for his seventh top Nascar Cup Series victory in the recent Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Bowman went from fourth to second in the final set of pit stops before an “overtime” restart, with Ives betting on fitting just two new tires to the Chevy. It paid off as Bowman faced off against Hendrick’s teammate Kyle Larson, the former heading to the inside lane, the latter to the outside. The pair stayed in the know as they headed into the final lap, with Bowman hitting for home on the final turn four.

“This thing was so fast all day, I never really got the track position we needed to show it off,” Bowman said. “But man, what a call from Greg Ives and the guys to take two there. Obviously, it paid off. »

Defending champion Larson led Martin Truex Jr to the top of the standings after three races.
