A man has suffered horrific injuries after being hit in the face with a hammer. He remains in hospital awaiting surgery after being attacked in Yeovil on Friday morning.

The victim, in his 40s, suffered multiple injuries, including facial fractures and lost teeth, after being hit with the tool. Now the police want to talk to two men about the attack.

Officers have released images of the pair they want to find after the man was assaulted between 8.30am and 8.45am in Henford Hill.

Both men are white and about six feet tall. The first man is very large with a beard; he wore a black hat, a black and white plaid shirt, black pants, and dark-colored shoes with a white stripe on the sole and white shoelaces.

The second man the police want to talk to has short black hair. He wore a black jacket with a fur hood, gray jogging bottoms and white sneakers.

Avon and Somerset Police are hoping the public can help them identify the two men or find new witnesses. A statement said: “We are keen to speak to the men after a man in his 40s was assaulted in Henford Hill between 8.30am and 8.45am on Friday March 18.

“The victim suffered multiple injuries including facial fractures and lost teeth after being hit in the face with a hammer. He remains in hospital awaiting surgery. Anyone who recognizes any of the men or has witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to the police, please contact us.”
