New hybrid-only Honda Civic completes brand’s electrified lineup Car News

Three versions will be available: Elegance, Sport and Advance. There are no confirmed specs for the UK yet, but the top-end cars in the US have a 10.2-inch digital dial, Bose sound system, wireless charging wire for smartphone and a larger touch screen (9.0 inches).

Rear passengers get 1.4 inches more legroom, while larger side windows aim to improve the feeling of space and the new rear hatch design preserves headroom.

Honda says the new Civic brings a 19% improvement in torsional stiffness over its predecessor, which is said to bring better ride quality, handling performance and refinement, while new adhesive and insulation reduce noise, vibration and harshness.

It’s also said to be more fun to drive, thanks to new ball joints and bearings up front that “improve steering feel and self-centering”, a wider rear track that improves stability, and a wheelbase 35mm longer for better ride quality.

The Civic was built at Honda’s Swindon plant until it closed in 2019. It is now produced at Yorii in Japan for domestic and European markets. For North America, it is built at the Honda factory in Indiana.

No pricing has yet been announced for the new Civic, but it is expected to result in a slight increase over the current car’s starting price of £22,730.
