Fatboy Slim will headline the second show at On the Beach festival in Brighton Brighton News

FATBOY Slim has announced that he will be performing a second show as the headliner of a huge music festival on the beach.

Norman Cook, who lives in Hove, will headline the On the Beach festival in Brighton on Friday July 22 and the newly announced date of Thursday July 21.

His performance will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Big Beach Boutique concert, described as the “biggest event Sussex has ever seen”.

Tickets will go on sale in an exclusive presale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, followed by a general sale at 1 p.m.

Organizers said the second date was added “due to phenomenal demand”.

“On The Beach is incredibly proud to announce a brand new addition to its Brighton Beach 2022 festival series; Fatboy Slim’s Big Beach Boutique,” organizers previously said.

“Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the most iconic dance event in modern history, Fatboy Slim will return to Brighton Beach to hail the biggest free party ever on UK soil – forever changing the UK music landscape. .”

Over 250,000 spectators gathered on Brighton Beach in July 2002 for Fatboy’s Beach Boutique 2.

The crowd was more than four times the expected size and, at the time, doubled the population of Brighton.

A year earlier, around 40,000 people had attended the first of the Big Beach Boutique events.

Big Beach Boutique 5 was held at Amex Stadium, with two concerts on consecutive nights in June 2012.

Earlier this week, Fatboy, 58, appealed for the Hawaiian shirt he wore to the concert to be found so it could be displayed in an anniversary exhibit.

Artists like Andy C, Sub Focus, Wilkinson, Shy FX, Dimension, Friction and Harriet Jaxxon have already been announced for the festival.

Other musicians and the exact location of the festival will be announced soon.

Tickets to enter the festival on Saturday July 23 and Sunday July 24 are on sale now.
